It’s more fun

It’s more fun

The Philippines Department of Tourism (DOT) seems to have hit a jackpot in terms of social media acceptance and sharing with the “It’s more fun in the Philippines” campaign. I happen to like the catchiness of it and have come up with my own versions of the slogan.

Portraits from Dyangdang

Portraits from Dyangdang

I had the opportunity and the honor of traveling with a group of Freemasons to Dyangdang, Bansud, Mindoro Oriental early in December 2011. We were there as witnesses to Kara David’s Project Malasakit and her efforts to literally bring light to this small community up in the mountains of Mindoro.

Bokehland

Bokehland

The term comes from the Japanese word boke, which means “blur” or “haze”, or boke-aji, the “blur quality”. The Japanese term boke is also used in the sense of a mental haze or senility. The term bokashi is related, meaning intentional blurring or gradation.

Matrushka Danbo

Matrushka Danbo

The matrushka dolls are a gift from an old friend in Cebu. She sent them to me after she read my rant about spotting some at a thrift shop only to have the shopkeeper snatch them from my hands, saying that they already have been reserved. The danbos are a different story all together. I [...]

South Dock, Corregidor

South Dock, Corregidor

Cris and I went to Corregidor again this year, to join friends in commemorating the 43rd Anniversary of the infamous Jabidah Massacre. This was shot on the beach by the picnic area off South Dock.

Rockwell in Polar Coordinates

Late last year, the Rockwell held a contest called 24 Hours at the Rock. Photographers were given the opportunity to shoot at the Rockwell compound and inside the Powerplant Mall, with no interference from the security guards. This event was organized by Digital Photographer Philippines, and ended with a night of live judging. The judges [...]

Up close and personal

I’ve started using my reverse-lens adapter again, after seeing quite a few macro shots made with this setup on the DPP forum. However I have not been as fortunate as those who have insects for subjects, being someone who is quite wary about insects.

Kates Ocampo

You may have seen her sitting atop a giant billboard advertising a bar beverage. Months before that billboard went up we shot Kates at Amadeo Cavite, in Balete Falls.

On my way home

I usually take the bus from the office going home. That puts me southbound on EDSA. Tonight I went down at the Ayala bus stop and walked up the pedestrian footbridge, just to see what EDSA looked like from there.
